Haines, speaking at the annual Reagan National Defense Forum in California, said on Saturday that despite the social and economic impact of the zero COVID policy, Xi “is unwilling to take a better vaccine from the West, and is instead relying on a vaccine in China that’s just not nearly as effective against Omicron”. Is Haines referring to a “better vaccine” such as this one?:

China has not approved any foreign Covid vaccines, opting for those produced domestically, and it does not look as though the country will be changing its mind. One United States official even told Reuters there was “no expectation at present” that China would approve western vaccines. The real question, is does China know something about the “vaccines” released in the United States and other Western countries?
